The Process:

Step 1:  Register your interest

Register your interest by phoning or emailing our team. Whether you are a leader with a group of people ready to start, or you are an individual wanting to get involved, the first step on this meaningful journey is to register your interest with the Irish Red Cross, (National Support Organisation for Community Sponsorship Ireland).

Step 2: Get assigned a CSI officer

Following your call or email, you will be contacted and connected with a member of the team who will be your dedicated guide and support throughout the programme, from getting started, to the achievement of welcoming and integrating a family. Our work as the National Support Organisation is conducted in partnership with Nasc, the Irish Refugee Council and Doras.

Step 3:  Group formation

Mobilise a group in your community (at least 5 people) utilising their personal & professional skills.

Successful examples include (not limited to):

  • Philanthropists contributing resources, time,
    and influence
  • Professionals (business, health, humanities, sports)
using their skills to support vulnerable people.
  • Faith-based members – religious leaders or active
    participants.
  • Community champions – local influencers, business owners, or charity and sports leaders.

Recommended roles:

  • Primary & Secondary Sponsor
  • Housing & Accounts Coordinator
  • Communications & Fundraising Coordinator
  • Language Coordinator & Interpreter
  • Education & Employment Coordinator
  • Health & Welfare Coordinator
  • Appointment Accompaniment & Cultural / Social
    Coordinator

Step 4: Application Form

As a group, complete and sign the application form. We will help you through this application process. This document demonstrates the skills and strength of your group and will be submitted to the Irish Refugee Protection Programme (IRPP) for their review.

With the Government’s formal approval of your Community Sponsorship Group, you will be permitted to proceed with the following next steps, all with continued support and guidance from your Community Sponsorship Officer: Fundraising, Accommodation, Settlement Plan, Budgeting, Welcoming and Integration.
